Amy’s Trip to Colombia

At the beginning of October I had the honor of traveling to Bogota, Colombia to further develop the YMCA of the Greater Twin Cities partnership with the YMCA of Bogota.  I spent a week at YMCA Camp Bochica working with an outstanding team of Colombian Y staff and 53 English teachers from the Bogota Public Schools.  The teachers participated in an English Immersion Camp which focused on experiential learning in the classroom.  The week was outstanding, the people incredibly friendly and the culture and food was outstanding!  The partnership began 2 years ago and much progress has happened.  This past summer Camp St. Croix had 4 outstanding staff from Colombia help us implement incredible summer programming.  In March, John Bussey will be leading a service-learning trip to Bogota to continue to share in a cultural exchange program and next summer we plan to provide 100 teens with an English Leadership Development Immersion Program at Camp St. Croix and Camp Icaghowan.

We are grateful for the opportunity to serve so many youth, young adults and families.  Camp St. Croix is successful because of a clear commitment to our mission and vision, the strength of over 200 seasonal staff, local and international partnerships and the support of our board and alumni.  Thank you!!
